THE BIG PICTURE
The Pondoland Conservation Trust (PCT) was born from a shared vision between the founders of Wild Child Africa and Pondo Beach Camps – a vision to preserve the untamed beauty of Pondoland while partnering with its communities to uplift its people.
PRESERVING THE
PONDOLAND COASTLINE
It is our belief that the only sustainable way to preserve the Pondoland Coast is to uplift the local community through high-end, low impact tourism. We aim to bring influential and significant individuals to this area, show them the wonders that it offers and, in doing so, inspire them to assist us with its preservation.
Through a partnership with the local communities, where benefit can be directly derived from eco-tourism, we plan to preserve Pondoland through a 3-Pillar plan.

PONDO
Due to the Pondoland coastline being too fragile to sustain high density tourism, we have created a high-end adventure trail with low environmental impact that strives to educate the fortunate few who grace its shores.
The Pondo Trail® has become an iconic and sought-after South African trail, hosting a healthy mix of families, international tourists and corporate groups, and has already brought much awareness to this area in a short space of time.
PEOPLE
If we are to succeed in preserving Pondoland for the future, it is imperative that whatever efforts are made in achieving this also benefit the local communities and aid in providing the basic services that are so badly lacking. Through consistent engagement with our adjacent communities, projects are discussed and implemented according to the needs of the community and area.
The Pondoland Conservation Trust is a powerful tool through which much of our efforts and external funding can be directed to benefit the local communities.
PLANET
Of the entire Pondoland Coastline, less than 10% of it enjoys being part of a recognised conservation area. Quite a staggering statistic for an area that holds such remarkable endemic biodiversity.
With the PCT vehicle and funding, this allows us to be both proactive and reactive towards fighting threats to the area and its environment.
